Case Study
AllesWurst
Headless online store for AllesWurst, a specialty retailer for butcher supplies with over 2,000 products. Decoupled Next.js frontend, WooCommerce backend and AI chatbot, blazing fast and cleanly readable for Google and AI.
Problem
Like almost every WooCommerce store that has grown over time, load time hung on a thick stack of frontend plugins: page builders, sliders, cache tools, SEO add-ons. A typical store with that stack lands in the red-to-amber range on mobile. In my own measurements of real stores: PageSpeed 40 to 56 on mobile, load times of several seconds. Each one costs sales and Google ranking.
Solution
Moved to headless. WooCommerce stays as the admin in the background, the storefront runs as a standalone, pre-rendered Next.js frontend. The decisive side effect: the frontend plugins are no longer needed and could be switched off in WordPress. That made the backend itself light.
Result
Desktop PageSpeed 98, load time around one second for real visitors (Google field data), Core Web Vitals green across the board, cleanly readable for Google and AI assistants. And the WordPress backend now runs plugin-free, making it more stable and lower-maintenance. That's what makes headless special: it makes the frontend fast and at the same time frees WordPress from the plugin ballast that in classic stores is the speed brake and the update risk at once. Two problems, one architecture.
